You can use RUFUS to install Windows, and preemptively remove restrictions. MASGravel lets you activate Windows once you got an internet connection. ShutUp10 for configuring your privacy, and also for uninstalling AI stuff. I recommend the premium version if you want ShutUp10 to automatically revert Microsoft’s meddling after updates.
I recommend MASgravel’s Windows Enterprise 25h2 GAC .iso for your RUFUS, it has the right balance between debloat and still being usable by a typical person.

Within a few weeks, I will have the machine worked on to fix a teething issue and to add at least a second GPU. My machine has device enumeration issues, which I believe to be caused by the PCIe SATA card. I am figuring that eliminating all non-motherboard SATA devices from the build will end the issue that I am having.
In this case, the computer can have 20+ minute boots, with bootloops or getting stuck. This only happens with booting, Windows is just fine. I consulted with my local AI about the patterns and error messages I was seeing, we eventually homed in on likely points of contention for the system.
This also lines up a prior experience with a SATA card some 15ish years ago. Silly me for expecting a modern SATA card to not suck.

It requires significant hardware to use local AI, and Qwen 3.6 at 35b isn’t quite good enough to understand the lore and characters. Odds are that once I have added VRAM & RAM to my PC, I can run a big enough model to have enough quality to feel good for me.
Unfortunately, I will likely have to wait for America’s AI bubble to have popped, before I can afford enough RDIMM RAM to run Kimi and other large Euro-Chinese open models. I probably won’t ever use American anymore, as their closed models have too many guardrails and likely would align with the Trump Regime in the coming years.
That sucks. Everybody should be able to find happiness. Not everyone has the looks, wealth, opportunity, or charisma to find a human lover.
In theory, completely rewriting legacy software with AI could be a great thing - doing so every 3 or 4 years, allowing newer and better AI to tackle the task, optimizing for every development made in technology or standards.
However, this still requires human minds to define, guide, and verify these projects. AI opens up possibilities for better development, but executives seem determined to fritter away such potential by axing the human element.
It is like a certain story…
I think AI is cool and useful, but it doesn’t obsolete people. AI doesn’t have hands, nor does it have social circles of experts to rely upon, or lived experience.

You can get a reasonable level of privacy by installing Windows Enterprise via RUFUS, which also has options for removing restrictions during installation. Massgravel is used to activate your copy of Windows, the Github also having .ISOs for you to use with RUFUS.
ShutUp10 is a piece of software that goes a step further, allowing you to toggle off many bad things, uninstall Microsoft’s AI, and gives a description of what you are tweaking does. The premium version also automatically applies your settings at all times, reverting Microsoft’s constant tweaking of your settings.
GrokAI is a poison pill that has been fed into a healthy rocket-satellite company. Sucks for the folks who value practical infrastructure that contributes to society.
Around 4 years. The creation of any microchip requires extremely stable geology, pristine rooms, high levels of training, Scrooge McDuck moneybins, and so on. It isn’t an industry that can turn on a dime.
I give up. This year ain’t Linux for me. There are too many problems, such as AppImages not consistently launching and not telling me why. I decided to RUFUS up a Windows 11, and will be using ShutUp10 to fix up privacy concerns.
It sucks, but the frustrations with ZorinOS piled up. Hopefully Linux will be good enough for a power-casual in three or four years, but for now, it isn’t fitting what I want nor need.

Fiber all the way, especially if it is owned by the community. That would simply ensure that Musk nor TelCos can’t fuck around with people. Fast speed, no data caps, low prices, and not being at the mercy of some wealthy jackhole would be wins across the board.
Also, if America has a 2nd Civil War, fiber will be much more safe than relying on sats - those can be shot down, or worse, Musk can cut off the good guys from having internet. It is simply harder to sabotage if the wires are underground and cannot be readily seen by hostile actors. As seen in Ukraine, the fucker has absolutely no compunctions against disabling the internet at key moments.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a ValvePay system. 1% transaction fee, available to anyone who wants to use it, including OnlyFans, Itch, Kagura, DLSite, and others. Valve can team up with Japan, the EU, and Brazil to handle their respective ends of the business, so that Valve can focus on the United States.
