I don’t even use anything home assistant related, but now I want an animated pixel art display of my home done by an illustrator.

At my previous job we handled much of this in house because we were a rather large company and could do so. We ran into the same things because our bolted on processes would need to be maintained indefinitely because every ERP system update tended to break things in unspecified ways. I no longer need to do this sort of thing, but if I never have to write code for legacy IBM systems again I’ll be happy.

Can confirm, switching ERP or billing systems is a risky multi-year nightmare with a price tag that makes even larger corps blush.

They do. They are huge, have poor software updates, and generally can’t be used with custom roms (hopefully this changes in the future), but bang for the buck the moto g line of phones is hard to beat. Weirdly, the 2024 and 2025 phones are the best to look at, the newer models are literal downgrades due to memory prices.

Fun Fact: Pervy Cactuars are indigenous to Southern Arizona!

It was one of those weird 70s clocks made from a cross section of a large tree actually, now the visual is even weirder!

When I was a kid we had multiple occasions of rattlers getting into the house and/or walls. It was the main reason we ended up moving and refer to that place as “The Snake House”. Some of my earliest memories are of the insane battle when my stepdad killed one that came at us in our living room with a giant clock.
It has a few other changes than just the DE from what I understand, but you’re not far off.
Other con: Unless you have a new home with pristine wires, the speeds of MoCa can vary anywhere from 2.5Gpbs to 6Mps. It also gets very tricky if you have still cable TV in your home because many of the set top boxes use MoCa and they directly interfere with using it for internet (though you can sometimes get it working with filters, my experience was poor). MoCa is still far better than something like Powerline adapters, which are another option for not having to run new cables/lines.
I just manually clean up the tags/directory structure and use rsync. I have tried a few other things, but they always end up being more trouble than it is worth for me.

Same here, but I just realized how much I loved the Thai and Indian level of spice and now I’m the weirdo whose home garden is 75% “super hot” peppers.

That’s pretty universal at Thai places. There’s hot and then Thai hot.

This has happened to me repeatedly at Thai places and it was honestly infuriating the first few times it happened. Luckily, I found out that at Thai places they usually have a spice tray they can bring out on request as long as you are eating at the restaurant instead of takeout. It became my common thing to expect to do so after my first bite when eating at places. At home I have my own dried peppers so I can make food as silly hot as I want.

To be fair, I did exactly that the first time i went to an Indian restaurant and it was fine. The reported spiciness was why i went though and it was great.

I wish I could get actual wallpaper that looked like this. Some guests might have a mental breakdown as they realize they’ve been living in a (buggy) simulation this whole time.
That sucks, I had hoped this would work better as it seemed very efficient/quick. I don’t think this is damning of all pre fab homes though, as they are really common especially in Europe.

I wouldn’t, but many of my friends that I finally convinced to switch to Linux would definitely consider it. They switched specifically because MS went too far and made things too awful, and gaming in Linux is now quite decent. They aren’t using Linux for the open source philosophy, or to tinker in ways that Windows blocked decades ago, or even the free price tag.

Thankfully this no longer matters since Sony just made an announcement which killed any interest in their platform.
Starting fights today are we?
There is another twist to this in that the OOXML format didn’t actually define the bugs in the format and MS Office itself didn’t actually follow the officially defined specification they pushed through. This inevitably led to every product that tried to make use of the official spec (e.g. Open Office) failing to be compatible with MS Office. It took the open source devs many years to properly duplicate the buggy mess that is the real MS Office formats.
