I had the same experience. This guy truly ruled the world for a brief moment. I don’t think anything has come close to how this broke out, I guess because it all became so normal after that.

Technology@beehaw.org•Six Flags has installed one of the largest solar carports in the US - 12.37-megawatt - the annual power use of both the amusement park and neighboring Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles
3·21 days agoAbsolutely. The solar road and rail things are just startups trying to make some quick cash. The real solution is to add shade with solar and put it on top of buildings. Even fields of solar is good, you can use a small amount of space for massive gains. It’s all push back from the right, who are in the pockets of billionaires, otherwise it’s a simple problem to solve.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•These are the kind of reactions I get when I recommend Anubis to deal with bots at work, what alternatives are there?
14·21 days agoIt’s a harmless way to try and get some money from corporations for unbranded versions. A swastika would not be so harmless. What a batshit crazy analogy attempt.

81·1 month agoAs others said, not lock in. But they certainly make some very questionable UX decisions. I wish there was a good replacement, but there isn’t, at least none that I am aware of.

13·2 months agoBecause they are cheaper. Something AMD didn’t figure out all them years of trying to get market share.

21·2 months agoIt’s shit.
I dont understand the hype around it, Squad already exists and does everything better.
There has to be some crazy marketing campaign and astroturfing going on, because the game is not good at all.

Starting a blog, something that a grandma can do, is the absolute bare minimum. Even Steam hosts a blog, which is accessible without login.

A blog is incredibly simple to setup. There’s no excuse for this other than laziness.

2·2 months agoWitcher 2 and 3 launched as messes too, not as bad as Cyberpunk 2077 (that’s probably the worst triple A launch ever).
I had little hope in it and have little hope in their next game, especially considering its UE5…

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Nearly 500k players showed up for the Wardogs beta: 'The reaction from the FPS community has been insane'
21·2 months agoYeah, it’s trying to be a Battlefield style game after EA fucked it up for 4th time in a row. I didn’t play that much, only a few hours, but it didnt scratch any itch. It doesn’t do anything well, it’s incredibly average at both sides it attempts. Which is my point, I might as well commit to playing a mil-sim or an arcade.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Nearly 500k players showed up for the Wardogs beta: 'The reaction from the FPS community has been insane'
12·2 months agoGame seems like it will be a console game, a weird hybrid of two shooter genres, simplified. It certainly isnt “crunchy and complex” as the article claims.
For the strategic and realism part, Squad does it way better, for the arcade shooting, Call of Duty does it way better.

11·2 months agoNo. The real reason is get people to double-dip.

Seems cool, but I wish there was an open source option.
