Så you want to externinate the web browser?

Tbf, it sort of makes sense, because web technology is easily transferable to another platform. Its one of the reasons i considered MAUI.
Also, lets face facts: browsers consume so much memory right now that axing UI frameworks and libraries made in a lower level language might win some of it back - especially when you see how much memory the windows desktop stacks eats.
I could even see user services run as WebWorkers, just to sandbox those services and tie it all together.
Although Office 365 is kind of trash in the browser, that too can change if the whole desktop goes web.
But in the end: Microsoft Chrome OS. No thanks. Now a libre desktop based on browser technology? Servo, even. That would be weird and wonderful.

Of course they did… they need good looking trailers. They make those on heavyweight GPUs.

Been using CachyOS as a daily driver for a year now, for dev work, office work and some media work. It’s helped to eek out some extra performance thanks to using build flags for system packages that are built according to modern CPUs.
Would I recommend or for newcomers? Not really. But that’s because it still does require using the terminal for system management. But they’re also working on fixing that.
Here’s a careful reminder that Linux viruses can come in Windows executables.
When it comes to hacking in the modern day it’s all about escaping the box - whether that box is a container, a VM, a sandbox or indeed even an emulated environment. So we should still fear the binary blob.
Remember: update early, update often - no matter how painful that sounds.
