  • I host my hugo site through gitlab pages (any forge “pages” could work) and images are simple. I just drop the image from my file browser into my IDE (VSCodium) in-line and it automatically puts the image in the article’s folder and links to the image in the article. I push the article to gitlab and the site is automatically rebuilt with the new content.

Some hugo themes might have custom shortcodes to display images in certain ways like side by side, galleries, etc with special styling. Invoking those shortcodes is different but just a simple image upload is no trouble. And no scripts necessary

  • I use that lyrics plugin and it works great. Basically you just enable it in navidrome and in your configuration you set the lyrics priority. I have it set so its lrc -> txt -> plugin -> embedded so if i have lrc/txt lyrics already it pulls those and if not the plugin will search. If plugin fails it will check for anyvembedded lyrics. This works with my feishin (pc) and symfonium (android) apps if I’m on my network or vpn’ed in (i don’t expose my server).

Another thing you can do is use the LRCGET app which can bulk download them.

I haven’t touched the ELRC lyrics yet but will look into pulling those

  • My music is on my PC hard drive and synced to my server. Last year I spent a few weeks tagging my old stuff and i tried beets, kid3, and picard but ended up liking picard the most just since it was a lot better at grouping albums together and finding the best matches ime. Any new music is tagged with picard. Then i run a navidrome docker container with the music library mounted. And i use feishin for desktop and symfonium for mobile use.

If you’re interested, i wrote about my experience migrating from iTunes to navidrome and tagging my music here (no ads, monetization, or tracking)

  • Expired domains first can be bought by registrars and then they might sell or auction it off. For instance godaddy will scoop up a lot of domains and auction them off even if it was registered somewhere else first. And unfortunately a surname.tld probably will invite domain squatters to try to get it and then charge much more for it

You can look into something like dropcatch which they will try to get the domain for you before another registrar gets it. Look into their backorder service and just check the timing to make sure they still can try to get it.

Regularly check the whois info (via icann lookup) to see which registrar currently has it which can help you determine if it has gone to an auction.
