There is no metronome.
You see?
It is not the metronome that oscillates, but yourself.

Technology@beehaw.org•Top economist warns that the AI math doesn’t make sense: 'Profits are currently being funded by investors rather than earned from customers'English
19·3 months agoThis has been fucking obvious for at least 2 years, more like 4, really.
What this has been the whole time is naked power grab to establish a technate, a techno-oligarchy.
When, not if, this fully fucking detonates the West’s finances and economies, most of these people will still be very wealthy, most of our 401k/pensions/net worth will mostly no longer exist, and we will end up with a society of all but formal aristocracy, vs us ‘low income worker’ peasants.
That is their plan. They have been open about that for 20-30 years; they despise democracy, they think the world should be hard deliniated into haves and have-nots.
It doesn’t matter if the tech works or is profitable.
What matters is who will be on top when the dust settles.

That’s… no. No, don’t say that, VW, dear god.
“Who we are now is but a stepping stone to what we can become.”
No one is static.
Everyone is an ongoing process… and you do have the ability to direct where that goes, how it changes.
Not an infinite or unlimited ability… but likely more ability than you initially may think.
That song is a legit banger and no one will eber change my mind on this lol
No.
I have thoughts, and want to talk about them.
That’s the point of a discussion platform.
Who are you to tell me I just shouldn’t say anything?
Pretending things that either aren’t jokes, or are really dumb jokes… are actually good jokes… is how you get more dumb jokes, and people laughing at things that are not jokes.
Hey now…
I really don’t mean this as an insult, but you don’t need to be ‘smart’ to contribute.
Take a picture of a bunny, post it to bun alert.
Take a picture of your balls, post it to gone wild.
(well ok maybe don’t jump straight to that)
Ask a stupid question on no stupid questions.
Have a political opinion, on the internet.
Find a niche comm for a video game and ask something about it.
Find a neat chart and post it to data is beautiful.
Probably the worst thing that can happen is … some random assholes give you the wrong color arrow thingy. Who cares! Fuck em! Its just numbers on a screen!
Comedy is legal now which means really bad and stupid jokes that only alcoholic bigots would laugh at are funny again.
please please please i wanna be a comedian i want people to think im funny, im so lonely and miserable please ill be happy if you laugh please laugh, goddamnit laugh or ill vote for trump again
If you can very easily explain a ‘joke’ with an incredibly common, mundane explanation…
You probably do not have a very good joke.
… his priorities are correct.
Trace his eye vector.
… yep, that appears to be a North Korean hacker/music/ai-slop group he’s currently looking into.
How often do you run into that on a metro, as opposed to… some gals going clubbing?

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Does anyone know why some games have this weird lighting glitch?English
2·3 months agoNo prob!
Did any of this work out… or problem still perists?
EDIT
Oh shit… actually read your full initial comment.
Yes, if the entire game… or Steam… is running from an external HDD… including the shaders and such?
Shaders generally are used many times, every frame.
Having those on an internal SSD could make a difference, and possibly be part of the problem you’ve shown, depending on your total hardware setup.
Generally speaking, more graphically complex 3D games that make substantial usenof shaders should be run from an internal SSD.
You can do HDD for 2D or less complex 3D games and its usually fine, but if fancy pants shaders are involved in many more modern games, use an SSD if you can.

2·3 months agoHome/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata
That should be, if you are on Bazzite, the dir that houses all the Proton data for each game.
Home/.steam/steam/steamapps/shadercache
And that should be the … basically the shaders assembled by Proton.
Unfortunately, the individual folders in those dirs, per game, are all named with an ID number that Steam uses internally.
You probably can figure out which specific game is which number, or, you can just wipe out everything in the compatdata and shadercache folder.
Doing that will essentially clear out Proton, Steam will then redownload Proton and rebuild game specific shader caches, as per your settings as to if that is automatic or on game launch.
You might need to shutdown and restart Steam, or reboot the system, or jump in and out of deck-game mode or something like that, to fully kick Steam into realizing you just performed surgery on it and it should start healing.
If that doesn’t work, in Bazzite terminal:
ujust fix-reset-steamThis is a much more thourough reset process though, read up on it.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Would you swap out Bazzite to SteamOS on your HTPC?English
4·4 months agoI know Bazzite is the deck build for HTPC, and is in testing right now for the next updates.
Eh… not quite sure what exactly you are trying to say, but:
Bazzite has multiple variants, and they have a webpage that points you at the correct one.
https://bazzite.gg/#image-picker
There is also the FAQ:
https://docs.bazzite.gg/General/FAQ/
What Bazzite image do I use?
Bazzite’s website offers a streamlined way of selecting the correct image which will be chosen based on hardware, desktop environment, and to include Steam Gaming Mode if the hardware supports it.
Bazzite offers multiple images, but most images will be following one of these three variants:
Variant 1: Bazzite images that do not have Steam Gaming Mode and receive automatic updates daily with gaming packages pre-installed. Variant 2: Bazzite images that automatically boot into Steam Gaming Mode (like SteamOS) and are intended for controller-oriented setups. Variant 3: Bazzite images that are intended for software development.… anyway, as others have said, there are actually a lot of differences between Bazzite and SteamOS.
Honestly just read all of the FAQ page.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Measuring input latency on Linux: X11 vs Wayland, VRR, and DXVK - Marco NettEnglish
4·4 months agoSo I skimmed the actual article, not sure if the author said this, but my guess as to why Wayland has a … worse reputation generally in the latency department, than seems to be deserved?
At least for myself, there was a significant period of time where … XWayland was the only way to actually run whatever game, on my system, with/via Wayland.
If this kind of thing was not just myself, and was generally common… well then XWayland = Wayland -> Wayland sucks.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Steam Machine not available in my country. What would you do?English
4·4 months agoLook into MiniPCs!
I’m not sure what will have availability in your country, but MinisForum, GMKTec, AOOSTAR would be where I’d start looking.
If you go for a MiniPC with an OcuLink external port… well, then you can get a GPU cradle and a small PSU for it, plug that in to MiniPC when you need the graphical power.
Its hard to find exact numbers on this, but basically, OcuLink appears to perform better than Thunderbolt 4 as a kind of eGPU data transfer method… there is some efficiency loss as compared to directly slotting it into a MoBo, but in practice, its often 10% or less.
And, now that FSR 4 works on 7000 series AMD GPUs, you may be able to find such a GPU that is cheaper, yet still performs somewhere between a Steam Machine and a more powerful PC.
This kind of setup is about as spatially small as a Steam Machine, and allows you the ability to upgrade to either a new GPU or MiniPC when you want to.
The MiniPC will be the CPU and storage memory and RAM.
MiniPCs often use laptop style SODIMM RAM and M.2 SSDs… so… if prices for those remain high, you can at least take those out of your old MiniPC, and then get a new ‘barebones’ MiniPC based around a newer CPU, and slot them into it.

It looks like you’re trying to make an 00s throwback joke. Can I help you with that?
=P
