I’m on xfce, so the dragonized desktop isn’t an issue for me. Thanks for the thoughtful response. If I start running into any issues at some point I’ll look into switching over.

Meanwhile, Garuda is quietly working away in the corner watching the drama.
It’s always interesting to see what gets included in these comparisons. I started on Bazzite and didn’t like it and found Garuda was Arch based, gaming focused, worked with Nvidia already, and had a few preconfigured desktop environment choices. It was easy to set up, works great, and I’ve been very happy.
I’ve been curious about cachy but have been too satisfied to switch. I’d love to hear a critique if anyone has tried both. What am I missing?
Yes! Honestly, this argument is so dumb. Is like arguing that a Honda Accord isn’t the same car unless it has a manual transmission.
Yeah, automatic and manual do drive differently, but it doesn’t stop being the same type of car just because they made shifting easier.
I’ve been on Garuda for a few years (Arch based) and honestly, it’s been super easy. Once Pamac was installed to handle software and updates, learning about AUR and how to access it was the only remotely technical thing I had to learn.
Yeah, some things are in different places than on Windows, but we all had to learn Windows at one point too.
That makes total sense. I haven’t dipped my toes into AUR, so I’m not surprised I missed it.
I’ve only been on Linux about a year. I started with Bazzite and then switched to Garuda. Garuda is Arch based but has always been fast and easy, even with an Nvidia card.
Am I missing something? Arch seems fine.

Oh, that’s good to know. I’ll have to look into that. I’ll admit I just went for the option that seemed the most streamlined without realizing researching tradeoffs.
