Well that’s pretty much this age’s version of animated gifs everywhere

That’s the thing, his pronounciation there is eerlie similar to what I’m used to spanish (where it is pronounced just as it is spelt) that my ol brain kind of does a short-circuit and can’t assimilate the fact that it’s just kind of the same thing in both languages and if it’s in the middle of a sentence I have to go back to speaking my crappy non-native english
20 years this year and I still am not sure how it is supposed to be pronounced (in english)
I feel like most of us who got into linux in that era got to truly know it that way - tinkering with it, breaking things and figuring them out by ourselves. In my particular case we didn’t had internet at home until late 2008 so even “simple” things like updating stuff was a real pain in the ass, though the ubuntu cds were salvation.
I fear posts like this can cause a Streisand effect. How about not giving free publicity to that stuff.
Been using linux since 2006 and this is the first time I see an ad for it. Well done.
You know, if ubuntu proposed to be a serious distro again it would rename itself to UwU
Not sure about that. When I first installed Gentoo with OpenRC everything went fine, just the boot/shutdown times were a bit slower than with SystemD’s when it didn’t do this shenanigans. But when I started reading about the SystemD hype I decided to try it and it did this at random - and got fed up so went back to OpenRC and never experienced this again. Maybe a misconfiguration on my part or something but I didn’t do something out of what the manual said about how to set it up.
The other day on a thread here about “people who use other init systems, why?” and i wrote about my experience with systemd and git downvoted for mysterious reasons. Other people that did the same as me also got their downvote sixpacks. And now they want to make it seem like it’s just the people that hate systemd the annoying ones…
On a serious note, 250k stars for the linux kernel is kinda too few github stars
Yes but you will be insufferable even to us linux users
I use bash because gentoo’s portage has a hard dependency on it so in my mind it doesn’t make much sense to install and keep yet another shell just because colors and autocompletion. If they ever get rid of the bashisms in portage I’d surely consider moving to fish, but getting rid of the bashisms in portage means that portage could be ported to the BSDs one more time and we could have Gentoo/BSD again
Jj better then git A LOT
Wow, you spelled mercurial really wrong
As a matter of fact KDE 6.9 will be released on 2027/4/20. Source: trust me, bro.
You had the chance to call it SystemdOSd and somehow you missed it. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Also why aren’t you including the most important piece, systemd-antivirusd?

1·1 year agoHow rich of you to think us Linux users have someone to talk to.

At uni I was taught C++ first (all the basics, logic 101, control flow, pointers, etc). Then I was taught data structures with C the next period (linked lists, stacks, queues, a tiny bit of trees…). Then I found out I sucked at maths and switched to graphic design!
All in all OP is in for a hell of a ride - yeah you could just start with C but they could start with C++ too so just to get the feel of it.
