Same, I had a lot of performance issues with Mint, for some reason. It was using tons of memory, and then freeze crashing (it is an old laptop), no matter what I tried. I switched to Zorin, and now I do not have many issues, the memory consumption is a lot less even with fancy interface grapchics. I feel like Zorin also runs Windows-stuff a lot easier, with Mint I had complicated (for a beginner) wine issues from the start. It really boils down to, what ends up working for you, and your machine, in the end.

Yes! What is the appeal? Why switch all the time? I just install the OS, tweak everything to work, then let it be. I clearly am not enough of a nerd. My whole Linux adventure started with distros, that were said to be easy for beginners… and I did not move past that, because stuff works?

They just stay up, but nobody has access to the controls anymore, the admin account shows as “Deleted User”. I know this, because the server my late friend hosted, is still up, even though their account got nuked couple years back.
