Gotta watch out for those un-walled houses though, I knew somebody who got one once… thing looked just like a gazebo.

But technically doesn’t count as a building…

Signed kernel means no akmods right? Without being able to install Nvidia drivers this may already be a nonstarter.
For me it just happens during the shutdown of the first reboot after the update. When it comes back up on the new software it works just fine.

I just use rEFInd because I never don’t have problems with grub.

As with many things the answer lies in finding a happy middle ground between the two. I’m not sure the Microsoft of today is capable of doing that though.
Funny you mention 20 years specifically as that’s when they introduced the ribbon interface, the last interface famously designed by “average users” rather than UI/UX experts. And one that was generally either loved or hated with little ambivalence.

That’s what happens when you hire a bunch of recently graduated graphic designers and give them 6 months to come up with a new interface. While also not consulting any power users or even developers who had previously worked on the interface. Rumor has it that these people didn’t even know the taskbar could move when they were first programming it so it would shock me if they knew about the scroll bar jumping.
Is that a recipe for snickerdoodles underneath?
Fun fact: The pen is called a stylus. They were also used in ancient times to put marks in clay tablets.

I guess that proves the fakeness then though because emperor penguins usually stand around 4 feet in height.

You are probably right, but just as a fun fact; Penguins exist far outside Antarctica:

Would you feel different if it was an article? Just because it’s photojournalism doesn’t make it not journalism, and photojournalists need to eat too.

Who’s the person walking in on the far right?

AMD’s version is called Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT). But just about everyone, even most motherboard firmware that I have seen, calls it hyperthreading still.

Huh… I have used Arctic Silver 5 for decades and somehow completely missed the existence of the MX line.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the proprietary nature of the Nvidia chip in the original Xbox. It was able to do things outside of normal direct X and normal Nvidia drivers (it had extra instruction sets compared to the consumer version of the same chip for instance). Given all the layoffs and time it may be that there’s just no more documentation on that and it was actually easier to do the nested emulator thing than it was to try to reverse engineer whatever proprietary bullshit was going on 25 years ago.

That’s good to know! Unfortunately, even editing the registry is hard to do on a lot of work machines.

I gave away an LG TV from 2008 a couple years ago that as far as I know still works, the LG TV I bought in 2019 is already dead. I also will never be buying another LG, which sucks because they were my preferred monitor brand too.
I wonder how many non tech people thought it was their new slogan.
