The border between Finland and Russia is 1,340km long. This has helped them become best of friends. They especially like to cuddle for warmth in the winter.
I bet there’s a strong correlation, at least among we olds, between the number of times one has installed Windows and the likelihood that they are now a Linux user.
That’s how we know that Linux is easier to install these days, for one.
All you need is another one of those global pre-processor directives! Then you’ll have commits that exactly match human output just like with the code itself!

I kinda want to get something with a manual transmission again, so it will very likely be a japanese brand.

8·3 months agoI’m in the US where this is coming soon enough. My car is a 2012 which seems like kind of a sweet spot, but it’s not going to last forever especially with our winters and road salt and pot holes.
I didn’t plan to buy a new car any time soon but have been thinking about my eventual next choice. All this BS has me wondering whether it’s better to get something soon without the next level of surveillance, or wait a few years and see how bad it is in practice and how it can be disabled.
That 2012 I mentioned is fun to drive, has low mileage for its age, and is fuel efficient, plus I have renewed my love of working on my own vehicles after not doing so for a decade or two. I’m currently doing work on the brakes. Maybe I’ll just have to try to make it live forever, and not give any more money to the whole damn industry as long as possible. That’s the most economically and environmentally friendly option, after all.
Thought 1: That setting kinda reminds me of pat of the quarters you get as the Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold in Skyrim.
Thought 2: So many hands! This image is both full of stuff that a generative model would suck at drawing, while also being a trap for us nerdy humans to examine them looking for AI screwups.
Awesome job!
The trick with my ADHD brain is to refer to documentation when I’m hyperfocused on how the thing works for some reason. It doesn’t have to be because it’s broken, but it could be, lol.
That’s how I used to say it decades ago when it was one of those “I have only ever read it” words.
It’s probably because I knew the name Linus from Peanuts / Charlie Brown, and in that they pronounce it “Lie-nuss.” So back then I said “Lie-nux.” When I first heard it as “Linn-nix” it sounded not just wrong but less cool.
But between having watched videos of Torvalds speak, and knowing a handful of Finland’s neighbors (Swedes) the correct pronunciation of “Linn-nix” is the only way I even think of it in my head now.

Yeah it’s less like something new and more like “Thank you, ancient me, for deciding it was always a good policy to go heavy on the RAM.”
