5·3 months agoI bought four 12TB drives in 2023 for about $150 each.
Now they’re roughly $300-600. It’s awful for consumers, but not for a company or nonprofit with decades of data.

3·3 months agoOblivion Remastered was a amazing blast to the past with modern graphics. But man did I forget how much mods I threw on there to thoroughly expand on my oblivion experience.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•In a universe of enshitification, Linux is one of the few things that consistently gets better.English
12·3 months agoI think this is where Linux shines.
You already CAN find enshittification versions of Linux.
And you can find lightweight ones, security ones, ones for servers, one that’s very user friendly, etc.

71·3 months agoI’m getting mixed comments about this game.
A lot of people say it’s shallow as hell. While Others say it’s a mess of a game with a lot of deep mechanics. And the anti-woke crowd is hope posting nonstop about how incredible this game is to nobody.
Then I see posts like this where the company seems alright and rewarding the team, rather than the more common story of sell a billion copies then fire everybody.
No idea how I’m supposed to feel and no urgency to play this game when I’m still catching up on the best games released like five years ago.

2·3 months agoIndie developers are every day people too. I’ve met some who worked as cooks and some who were surgeons. Not all of them are technically savvy beyond their toolsets.

241·3 months agoYou have to remember that there’s a lot of braindead folk out there.
The ones who buy every sports game. The one who just pick up a yearly shooter. To them, it’s like buying a pay-per-view match or a concert ticket. $70 for a couple hours of joy.
They walk among us. If anything, we are the minority.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Windows 11 bloat proves too much for Microsoft's new 8GB Surface LaptopEnglish
621·4 months agoApple performed some incredible wizardry to make iOS and macOS as performant as they come with the chips/hardware they had over the past decade.
I really thought those Microsoft laptops would take a page out of Apple. And do the same thing.
Nope. Microsoft continues to shovel their dog shit resource hogging OS and demand hardware “figure it out”.

3·10 months agoYeah, this is kinda BS.
Adobe don’t care. Nearly every design firm is going to ask you about your Adobe experience, so you can use their Adobe software.
Maybe some of their designers will use GIMP. But that’s like saying your office also uses libre office and Linux. Which is extremely rare.
