First you get a file(kernel source), then use another file to change the file, then you have a kernel, but the kernel(file) in the the file system, then use a magic boot file to run the file. That’s basically it?

1·2 months agoThe crazy thing is I can do a mail server easily, but I always get stuck or annoyed with docker, everyone says docker is easy 🤷

3·2 months agoActually yes, if you take each piece one step at a time it’s not that bad, as long as you are not expecting a fully functioning mail server on day 1 it’s relatively easy.

4·3 months agoMy only bad experience with this software is users moaning that it’s not excel and word. And users using word/writer as a layout tool, without using the layout tools in that software: tab tab tab space space space space align left: why does nothing line up 😔

2·3 months agoThe main enshitification I’ve seen has been when a project tries to financially support itself via a supported version or enterprise version. More often than not new features get developed for the paid version and the open source version becomes the community version. New features then never got put in to the community version, or it remains in a crippled state

7·3 months agoThe old reason to get a newer text book is that it’s sometimes has a more clear explanation on a subject, or can include better diagrams and images. I remember looking at some older physics book and the info was so dense it made it hard to digest. This was ~2000 so books must have been from the 50s-70s

4·3 months agoIt would wipe the boot loader, might still do that it’s been a long time size I dual booted, and from what I remember would get massively confused if it couldn’t boot in to windows during one of its update/reboot x3 cycles.
Also would eat kittens given half a chance
