The lack of memories would be a deal breaker for them to use immich. They love getting weekly generated clips of what was done this time last year or ten years ago

Memories is a great feature, this would be a deal breaker for my partner.
Put a server at a friends house? I also saw a selfhosted storage sharing build the other day, allowed other users to access defined storages on your server.

2·22 days agoI’ll be honest, I went looking based on your comment and found something thatnis either way under priced or very misleadingly titled. I have ordered it to check which.
It was 400 euro for that mini pc. I would probably move everything to it if it is real.

1·22 days agoVery good, I think I am going to go with a 16gb N100 lenovo all in one. Seems neatest.
Could I get your advice here on the below specs, I just came across it at a reasonable price for that much RAM. I would expect over a grand.
Intel Core Ultra 5 225H 64 GB DDR5 RAM 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD

1·23 days agoI am looking at a few N100 mini pcs, is there an AMD alternative?
I keep seeing nearly good enough specs but the chip is not low power generation
That youtube self host is exactly what I have been looking for. I want to get a few creators content on the tv without the youtube app.
If it can manage sponsorblock 🫣
As I wrote my question this came into my mind, I was hoping I just didnt understand the options properly. Damn. I like the update experience it is very nice, the arr stack ws to be my first experience of docker and self hosting so it was a trial.
I may have to grab another pi and do it separate so. Do you think an 8gb pi4 is sufficient?

1·1 month agoThat looks great, shortcoming in terms of being able to interact - I would need to see a Kia specific integration.
Currently unlocking, setting charge times and all tat needs cloud and lag which is an issue on top of the privacy.
Ideally I want to be able to locally control but this is a great start. Thanks

1·1 month agoYeah I was looking at the Buzz and California at the time! I would love the eCalifornia but I won’t give them the money, they don’t innovate enough and come across as entitled with their pricing and then charging for access to my cars features

1·1 month agoI have the same, I dislike the kia app it is so poorly laid out and difficult to find features. HA is better but kia have a lot of similar sensors that are difficult to interact with.
Really wish it could be local. I would go so far as to put my own sim in the car and point it to my own server only.

1·1 month agoThe duopoly prevents it. In theory it should be simple to plug something other in and use it but the manufscturers dont allow for it.
Maps, music, calls and messages. None of this needs to be google and apple.

1·1 month agoYeah, tbh I want to decouple from tech providers completely and part of that would be enabling smart features to work locally in the car or back to a home server. I wish it were possible, currently you cant even get a FOSS alternative to apple or android auto

4·1 month agoYeah I’m not, I have a number of options and this is a point of consideration.
All cars are required to have a sim since 2016, I wish they didnt have manufacturer access but they do. I thought maybe I would get someone pointing out how to get access locally
