I’m well aware of my thoughts on the matter, and where they came from, and what I choose to do with them. I have explained them, but you don’t like what I’m saying so you’re deliberately misinterpreting my replies and then complaining about me not making sense. Don’t deflect, coward.

You are so desperate to side-step the entire fact that Ai, as it stands, is being implemented irresponsibly and its use and support is directly tied to the further degradation of our freedoms. I don’t give a shit if it’s good or bad when used with pure intentions, I care that its very existence right now is unnecssary, inefficient, and a direct attack on the working class. I care that for all the productivity claims, no one is getting a shorter work week except the people who are being fired and going down to 0 hours. I care that data centres are a disaster wherever they’re built, be it to the environment or the quality of life of those who live nearby.

You cannot support the working class and use Ai. It is the same as how you cannot support trans people and still get down with Harry Potter. Companies like OpenAi LOVE when you say “I don’t support ____ but when I use it, it’s different” because they know that at that point they still have your money and that you’ll let them do whatever they want as long as you can still pretend that you’re better.

If you’re one of those “separate art from artist people” this entire conversation is done, man. Ai is a malicious tool right now, and supporting it is a bad fucking idea. Well-planned algorithmic randomness and Ai are not the same things.

There is a fundamental ethics issue here(several, even) and I just cannot spend my time teaching you how to be a good person.

Except that Ai, and support for Ai, has the end goal of stealing from and attacking artists. No artist worth paying any attention to should or would support Ai through its use. The only time I would ever consider it art is in using it to shit on itself, as a specifically anti-Ai piece, but that’s not really the same thing. Kinda like the guy on Instagram who shows it being completely unable to understand or follow basic instructions.

No excuses for Ai. I don’t like to take the absolute stance on too many things but in its current form, with its current goals, “Ai” is poison that shouldn’t be anywhere near anything, espcially not art. Fuck that garbage.

Yea, that’s fine with me. It hasn’t bothered me before and it doesn’t bother me now. Besides, AI voice lines would bother me so much more. Bad art is still art, but nothing AI makes is even good enough to wipe your ass with.

Make it four lines. Make it THREE. Make it the same fucking line every time I walk by the character; if it’s real I won’t give a shit. That happens all the time in The Ascent and I do not care. And if you told me that actually they used AI to build the world I would a) look up those claims and, if true, b) uninstall it and never touch it again because I’m not fucking bitch-ass coward who would sell out other people just so he could have a videogame.

Except that deliberately written voice lines for the randos are still appreciated. When I see a big, well-designed world that clearly took effort it’s a nice feeling to know that it was made with care. Someone saying “this isn’t important” just tells me that it’s not worth looking at it and it sours the experience.

Ai has no place in art. It’s very existence is antithesis to art.

Did he even do anything with “tech”? He made a website, and by the time it got to any level of complexity there were people smarter than him doing the real work. And it’s not like MySpace didn’t already exist at the time, so as usual it’s the less creative second person with a few fewer morals who ended up with the big money.

I’m mostly just asking because I figured the meme was based in something.

I’m no experienced software guy, mostly just a guy who isn’t dangerously stupid, but I’ve been having a good time so far. Or rather, a boring time because the only thing I had to really do was edit the fstab so my other drive would auto-mount. Otherwise it’s delightfully unexciting.

Avoid all GM vehicles, they are directly responsible for the pathetic state of US public infrastructure and they have literally been caught valuing profits over their customers’ lives.

Similarly, I know people who bought F-150s for motorycles after going to the track only one time. We worked with actual consistent track-goers who each had vans. I used one of theirs to move my bike to the shop, and it was really funny watching them struggle with a small Ninja 250.

And out of the people who do need them, vans are still a much better way to go for many of them. Vans which have at least a margainally better field of view with their short, sloped hoods.

Conned them and then Nashville, I think it is, is also paying him for it. True stupid, the US isn’t a country of learners, it seems.

Except I literally already told that being unique is less important than being able to actually do what’s promised. New Yorkers understand the power that a mayor has and know that he can get this shit done for their city. His policies are good and they’re a strong swing away from the center and the right and people are excited about that, and he’s been shown to even explicitly say he won’t make promises he can’t even attempt to keep(price of eggs, anyone?).

The establishment hates this because he’s doing things they know will energize people and show them just how much better things could be. The US has long operated on the bullshit idea that they couldn’t have nice things because “it’s different here!” but that’s always been a lie that was easy to tell because the good shit was happening across an ocean that many US citizens couldn’t even point to on a fucking map. Now it’s going to be right there, in their big New York City, and it’s going to be hard to ignore.

Just a fun fact about “think tanks”, “institutes”, “foundations” and most of those little groups is that when they appear in the news there’s a solid chance that they’re being propped up by corpo money. Every time they appear you need to go double check their bias and you’ll often find that it will be they themselves saying they’re “a conservative think tank” and, if not that, there will likely be a Wikipedia article and a bunch of other sources confirming it. I’m sure there are good ones, but it’s largely just oil companies and banks and big tech funding some corrupt as hell “academics” in order to buy some credibility.

I loved when I got into with one person over climate change and all they could do was send me articles that use oil-backed think tanks and which quoted a climate scientist who’s such a huge liar that whole webpages exist to organize and debunk all his paid-for bullshit.
