  • I mean, I had a 2011 Macbook with MacOS chugging along until early this year iirc, when the SSD croaked after another reboot due to power outage. I would probably still use it myself if not for the fact that Macbooks throttle the CPU when there’s no battery, since the power adapter can’t deliver peak power.

It has 16 GB of RAM, which is still the norm for laptops. Moreover, it actually supported higher RAM frequency than officially advertised, which I promptly exploited by buying said higher-freq RAM.

  • I was just taking a walk through busy streets, and thought about how I’ve heard of unbranded high-quality clothes and tech for people that have money but no desire to see advertisement in their house, much less be a walking advert — but I’ve never heard of unbranded cars. All the pricey car marques display their logos eagerly, and especially the ‘executive’ cars’ logos are larger than others’.

In fact, it’s with really odd cars like retro-styled ones or obscure limited-production outfits, that I have to google as to what the hell I’m looking at. E.g. Morgan has their hood logo looking into the sky, might as well not be there at all.

True, however iirc the tools panel layout can be adjusted in standard GIMP — maybe not to the width of one icon, and by default the panel is also used for the tools options. Afaiu there was more sense in Photogimp when GIMP had floating windows, those really were dark times.

My main issue with GIMP is that I can never memorize the location of the buttons for less-frequently-used tools, and the icons are not too recognizable. But that can be fixed with an icon theme, and perhaps with reordering the buttons if that’s indeed possible.

  • Yes, it’s relevant, because DEI inherently limits what the company does, and yet the shareholders voted to keep it. Apparently Apple’s shareholders aren’t bigoted idiots.

if 2028 goes Republican in US they probably won’t even do a logo change that pride month

Nice job showing your ass here, because Apple never ‘changed the logo’ for the pride month. Where the fuck are they supposed to change it, on the Macbooks?

  • keep in mind that linux started and still is a server os primarily. DEs started out for the developers to have the ability to have some GUI on the side as well

Absolute nonsense. Unix GUIs and workstations predate Linux. The X Window System was first released in 1984, the Motif widget toolkit in 1989, and both were alternatives to existing proprietary GUIs. The workstation landscape was a Wild West before Windows prevailed.
