Part of me is like “just run a VM” other part of me is like “hardware comparability is a major part of choosing an OS”.
Also, just friggin at least run a fedora VM and shove every DE in it until you figure out what you like. Maybe you actually just want to try a different DE.

one thing about millenial wives : they can linux through a shitty computer. Technically my one’s been using linux longer (this time round) than I have.
I think they allow it as long as you have the Joual language pack, -tbnk

25·26 days agoyes yes, it’s all AI and IBM so it’s made of the same algos that ran the Nazi concentration camps.
I don’t want to RELISH news of them doing more, and I’m not going to kiss their ass because they spent 0.00000000000001% of their earnings on one patch.

73·27 days agoI pulled a word out my ass because I can’t be bothered with looking it up all the way for this ambiguous term.
Basically, like “sportswashing” they are trying to cover up/compensate for their horrible behaviour by releasing crumbs like this to gain goodwill. I’m not going to change my opinion on facebook being a piece of shit scourge on humanity just because they put some ram efficiencies in linux.

2·1 month ago“The problem with creating these links is that they aren’t managed in any meaningful way. If that library is removed, the link becomes broken. If the library is upgraded, it may encounter an error because of the link that it doesn’t expect to be there.”
If anyone is forwarding shit the way OP is, I’m pretty sure this is a “move the earth to hack this shit to work right now” action instead of “here are the foundations of my best practice based system”

1·1 month agothanks for trying. I did that, I get to the login, and then I get a mouse and a black screen after the login still. I basically did (more or less):
before

1·1 month agothanks so much. The documentation that I’ve glanced just makes it seem so easy, “just replace X with Y and nothing more!”

Great work!
