  • There are two innovations kind of worth noting. One is that the software animation when closing or opening the phone looks very cool & the second is that Apple’s plastic screen protector is using a somewhat clever matte nano tech that hides the crease -and reflections in general- quite effectively.

Imo folding phones are not really worth using, but the Iphone Fold is especially bad. Not only is the hinge design itself obviously flawed causing all these breakages, but also the hinge internals are sealed really poorly so you get some dirt in there & gg.

  • Not saying other antivirus software suites are not useful or much better, just only that defender is shit. People think it’s great, but it fails at basic scanning reliability & is reliant on Windows Update actually working ok too, which is a pretty shitty problem to have for security software. My expectation is that if I download malware the binary is not allowed to execute until scanning happened, Defender only sporadically fulfills this on real actively used computers with aging Windows installs.

  • Awful use of ChatGPT, yes. Though in a perfect world where intentional bias could not exist, then it could be good for people that are lazy to do their own research to summarize the life, past policy decisions & promises of the candidates in an easily digestible form. In that hypothetical world could be better than still going to the polls without knowing anything, like so many people do.

I actually asked ChatGPT out of curiosity about James Talarico vs. Ken Paxton & it cherry picked things that were really said by KP, but are bullshit from a republican. Then again looking at Talarico’s side makes me waver if there is intentional bias at all, but overall it still feels like both candidates are shown in a relatively good light, with KP obviously gaining more.

Just the fact that ChatGPT and other LLMs are resistant to say bad things about politicians in general makes the results inherently biased & potentially very damaging.

  • I think SK Hynix’s projection is incredibly naive. I’d be surprised if by 2028 the Chinese haven’t captured this market yet, inevitably impacting prices.

You don’t have to be an oracle to expect this, it is a fact that CXMT is already scaling up consumer DDR5 production. Yes they are behind in technology, but home users won’t care much as long as they can put them into their DDR5 mobos & run them in dual channel…

Anyway my prediction is that 2 years from now the prices will be significantly down, but still high compared the business as usual & the moment the bubble pops -if it does & not before 2029- prices will go down to what’s normal or even below normal for the larger sticks.
