IIRC the user marketing data exfiltration method pioneered by Samsung several years ago involves a form of Bluetooth P2P/mesh networking whereby a TV with no internet connection can handshake with, for example, a neighbor’s TV which does have internet enabled or, if they’re just as tinfoil as you and disabled their internet, your data and theirs could simply be relayed to another neighbor’s TV on a different floor, etc etc
I use LTO4 tapes.
Overall take: slow noisy writes but viable for cheap stable long-term storage.

My bad, Apple Silicon, the private local ML “meta” as of ~Nov’25 (and last I saw) was RDMA clusters of M3 Ultras that could scale up to 3.6TB VRAM (a lot)
For local inference these days it’s basically all AS since it’s the only consumer hardware that can replace $20-80k server builds, but if you mean ML/AI developers specifically, they still prefer discrete GPUs for local training (on personal budgets: either recent consumer gaming/professional cards or older AI cards).
With respect to per-watt metrics, 4090 was such an efficiency leap that 5090 struggles to match it. AFAIK 4090 still holds the efficiency crown in discrete graphics. (Maybe not for other acceleration tasks. Also driver/FW updates sometimes shift benchmark standings over time.)

From their first use in 1789 (long-short: seating positions) the definitions for left and right were fluid, but generally referred to “change” versus “status quo.”
In Stalin’s era, left referred mostly to pro-worker policies, the economic change of the communist revolution. That convention was solidified in the US during the red scare, where left-wing came to mean “commie heresy.”
After that period, the definition was gradually blurred again, perhaps by conservatives carrying forth the McCarthyist tradition of lumping any non-conformist view into “commie heresy.” Regardless, the resulting confusion in public political discourse is the reason Wayne Brittenden made the Political Compass website in 2001.
By canonizing the economic-policy definition used by the Bolsheviks/McCarthyists as an actual X-axis spectrum, and the social-policy definitions of most other contexts as a Y-axis spectrum, one could easily map both dimensions as a cartesian coordinate. Quite handy.
Still, as elegant and illuminating as that solution is, it remains a convention.

That’s a good question re: gdpr. Regional activation of those modules in FW revision is certainly possible. But my guess is that the difference relates to the payload contents and whether or which PII is permitted by any particular local laws, since I expect that would maximize profits.
