Back when I switched to Linux it’s because I thought it was cooler, not because it was better. But now Linux is so much better. It’s not even a contest. If it’s a race windows showed up drunk, ran into the wrong direction and then straight into a wall.
Nah, it’s not that bad. You don’t need to optimize the living hell out of it and they also have some ready-made binary packages. Plus you can also use flatpak for instance to make your life easier.
