Its not a bad design. Personally, I couldn’t get used to anything else (and I’ve tried). My first PC had Win 95 and I’m now on a Plasma desktop.
Microsoft is doing a great job at completely crippling the fuck out of their start menu though, proving once again they have no idea what direction they’re going in.

My server got hacked once and was mining crypto! I noticed it when I heard the fans were at 100% when walking passed the room lol. Turns out, qbittorrent-nox used UPNP for its web admin endpoint enabled by default and qbittorrent can do many things like run custom scripts. My mistake was not changing its login credentials. Exposed my full system. Live and learn.

I remember a time when the gaming community’s darling, CDPR, sent lawyers to people’s homes, demanding they pay because they pirated The Witcher 2.
I don’t know how times have changes, but it definitely happened depending on when and where you lived.

It’s just a hard drive! What’s the problem?!

My requirements for a text editor:
Bonus points if it comes pre installed.

I get why they did it, but its a shame they made it a standalone device. That itself drives the cost up, now even more so with memory shortages.

lrcget
I used this and it did exactly want I wanted, great tool. Thanks!

Anyone know a good way to automatically tag audio files with lyrics? Like how mp3tag pulls data from musicbrainz and tags tiles in a few clicks.

Thanks for the info. Will check it out.

I hope you one day add client sourced snapshot content so pages behind an authentication layer can be archived. Would also make for better snapshots on pages where pesky cookie pop-ups cover the screen…

You’re installing a headless system right? Ubuntu and Debian are going to have very similar if not downright identical day to day operating procedures, including installing and setting up new things. Ubuntu is going to have software packages coming from a different repository and they may be newer (though this rarely matters) and the initial install may be different. One is backed by a for profit corporation and one by a large open source community. Whenever you need help, guides for Debian will probably work on Ubuntu and vice versa.
For home self hosting use, it boils down to you own philosophy. In practice, it won’t really matter… they’re both really similar.
I proudly use Debian BTW.
Oh shit! Which windows distribution do I switch to? Any recommendations?

They throw buzzwords at venture capitalists in hopes of one day selling out.
Never used them in my life and I’ve been machine computing over 25 years. Always one monitor, one desktop. I close shit I dont need regularly, I click on icons on the tab bar to get to the app I need. The tab bar is wide enough to hold like 30+ of them. Why do I need more than one desktop? Windows go over another, the tab bar shows everything I have open. Why switch? I never got it.
11th gen i3 NUC, headless Debian.
