  • Using BBLauncher 16.12 with the latest build of ShadPS4, I have not run into any serious problems with the character generator. All textures are working great.

The only (minor) problem that comes up is that occasionally the preview portraits fail to load, but if you click into those to switch to a new hairstyle/color/new number on a slider/etc and go back to the main screen, you’ll see how the modification looks on the main character model.

I’d buy an official PC port of Bloodborne in a heartbeat. Disappointing that it’s unlikely we’ll get any port at all from Sony in the indefinite future now.

  • Oh, hey, me too! I used BBlauncher’s Linux fork, but it seems to basically be the same process. And it’s breathtaking. After setting Readback mode to relaxed, I didn’t even need to install the vertex explosion fix mod or disable facegen, so I can actually make custom female characters again, with little to no performance hit.

That was the last game stuck on consoles I’m interested in that I didn’t have a way of playing on PC. I only have my Steam Machine hooked up now, and it’s so freeing.

  • If Steam ever shuts down, an old Reddit post had info about a customer experience message chain where a Valve representive said they had contingency plans if that ever happens.

If there’s third-party DRM on top of the regular Steamworks DRM, the game you bought has much worse odds of actually working offline if Valve goes out of business or the devs abandon it. That’s why I try to avoid Denuvo.

That being said, I’ve played Denuvo games on my system and any performance drops have been minimal at best. YMMV on that, but I’m a mid-end gamer at best. A certain athetic woman will provide alternative access to the game if you really want to skip Denuvo, but it should be fine.

But Denuvo is just silly and pointless. It sets out to be an anti-piracy measure, but it’s not actually preventing games from being cracked at all. Game studios should prevent piracy by making a high-quality, consumer-friendly product. I would never pirate a GOG game, but I can’t say the same for Ubisoft.
