Absolutely not. I am all for piracy but by claiming copies from Epic, the devs get money in their pocket and money flows out of Epic. I claim shit from Epic I’ve already bought on GOG or Steam.

I use Proxmox as a VDI server. I understand that this isn’t homelab territory, but selfhosted VDIs have proven exponentially more reliable and easier to manage than cloud based ones (after the initial PitA setup). Flawless copy/paste, screen resize, and most importantly, file transfers. When you connect to 12 different clients, each with a different set of security requirements, system hardening, monitoring, and VPN access, being able to console amd fully interact with a sandboxed desktop becomes priceless.

Watching that video I can see the card being very useful once the Linux drivers can fully exploit the hardware.

I am out of the loop. Why should I consider an Intel Arc over Nvidia or AMD? Is it just a price thing?

You upgrade?

I was setting up some template VMs on a fresh Proxmox VE (VM server) yesterday. Total install and troubleshooting times for each template were as follows;

• Linux Mint Debian Edition - 20 minutes
• Windows 10 IOT LTSC - 3 hours
• Windows 11 IOT LTSV - 6 hours, with the benefit of lessons learned from the Win 10 install.

The amount of obscure configs I had to dig up just to get them going was disgusting. Also, why the fuck are so many drivers not in Win10/11 by default, yet Linux has no issue including them all at a fraction of the ISO size?

In this case, we are a little behind schedule, but working to rapidly catch up.

Well, yes. There are many different answers to any specific question because there are many ways to accomplish the same task. That doesn’t mean that one way is correct and the rest are wrong. It is up to you, the end user, to decide which of the correct answers suits you best. If you don’t know, pick one and move on until you have to revisit the solution.

I find this to be one of those memes that’s not actually based on facts but on feelings. If you ask a question that could have been answered by a quick search, or asked a very vague question, then sure. Otherwise, I find that the linux and FOSS community as a whole tends to be extremely helpful and patient. Yes, there are assholes, but overall the community is full of people willing to help.

Why does Arch not work on my PC from the early 2000’s?

I’ve been working on Linux since '96. As time goes by I keep drifting more and more towards boring and stable distributions. I just don’t want to be bothered with a system that needs me to groom it constantly.

There are four main flavors

• Debian - For every day
• Red Hat - For work
• Arch - To tinker and learn
• OpenSuSe - To German
