But irrelevant for most users. Azure can stay all it wants but we must be freed from the shackles of Microsoft Office

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Meta Developing Compressed RAM "CRAM" For Linux: Better Than ZRAM & ZswapEnglish
111·15 days agoMore ram for your ram is just objectively a good thing for computers to have, regardless of the pervert it came from.
The more you know about computers the more you realize its just magic rocks, and that magic, rocks.
Wait, is that a faux pas? Weasel?
The way i experience it is that its a lot harder to fuck up a cachyos installation than it is to fuck up base arch…
Thus improving performance (anecdotally)

Only if either your app requires it to transcode. My cpu is maxed if i try to play off chrome on my phone, but the same file on the jellyfin app keeps it under 1%

Computers have been mainstream at the very least for 2 decades and you havent bothered to learn anything about them??

Whatever comes with the thing is going to be most popular by default. Windows knows this. Apple knows this. Linux simply doesnt have the funds to buy out manufacturers

11·2 months agoI had a screen get burn in (forgot to turn it off, oops) removed it from the laptop, waited 3 days, put it back in and it was flawless again.
I had a laptop that refused ethernet and would only ever use wifi… When the ethernet was connected. No wifi unless that cord was connected. Confirmed it was, indeed, wifi by using a dummy connector.
Bought a 10tb hdd that refused to read anything at all, opened it for giggles/curiosity and found a piece of scotch tape stuck to one of the disks and one of 4 disks completely shattered. The disk was still factory sealed (by appearance, anyways; they still had the antitamper stickers)
Yeah same. Aur has been significantly less virus prone than the windows norm (inb4 wut abut winget >;ppp) of “Googling some shit you want and clicking the first website to roll the dice on predatory ads or malware or maybe the thing you wanted”
…not to mention if you have btrfs you can just rollback a month or two and call it a day.
No one should have statues made of them. We are remembered by momentary glimpses of greatness in the overwhelming sea of mediocrity. Something something typewriters
