Oh bless you, you haven’t encountered anti-semitism yet, then.

I know we’re bullshitting here, but my inner pedant can’t help himself: Jesus was born in Roman-era Galilee, at a time when most people spoke Greek and various forms of Aramaic. Jesus is the Anglo-fied rendering of the Latin spelling of the Greek version (Iesus) of the Hebrew name Yeshua (which could also be translated as Joshua or Hosea).

2·27 days agoWe were the patron of the arts. We produced some of the finest architecture and iconography in human history. So why do so many Christians just shovel this low-effort LLM-derived slop all over the place? It’s an embarrassment to our great religion and an affront to our Creator who blessed us with the gifts of creativity, part of what it means for us to be made in His image.

5·1 month agoYou know when I feel the most manly? When I successfully load my Kia Soul EV with groceries from Costco AND manage to get all four of my kids in there as well. A big pick-up truck is just cheating.

5·2 months agoI’ve hated Microsoft since the late 90s. I refused to ever own an XBox. My friends rolled their eyes, but I get semi-regular reminders that validate my feelings.
I’ve been a console guy my whole life, but I’m starting to realize that PC is, indeed, the master race.
Look, all of us have different sleeping habits, okay

2·3 months agoI’ve installed Mint on a few MacBooks. Was in need of a better laptop, got a decent deal on a Costco-special Lenovo IdeaPad and immediately put Mint on it. The process took twice as long as with the Macs and because this laptop has a Copilot key, I imagined that there was something akin to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind going on inside with the “AI” trying to hide and dodge deletion.

No, seriously. I worked at an EB Games in Orlando. My shift was to start later that afternoon, but I wanted to get my system that morning (I also had a pre-order for it before the official pre-order process started). I entered the West Oaks Mall super early and strolled right past the massive line of guys waiting for the gate to roll up. I shouted in, “yo, let me get my system!”
One of the other employees said, “if you want it you better get in here.” Audible groans and clear anger starting to rise from the dudes in line.
“Easy, I’m an employee.”
I go in, was handed my PS2, then I clocked in and started helping out when the gate rolled up and all the dudes started streaming in. It was quick, efficient, and with very little drama. Then I went home, played exactly twenty minutes of TimeSplitters, and then went back for my normal shift where I spent the rest of the day informing people that, yes, we were sold out of PlayStation 2 consoles.
