You know Albert the artist?

Oh you don’t say? You somehow got to that conclusion from me suggesting that WoW is the 4th iteration in the series?
Believe it or not, I played the first Warcraft when it was released.

It was worse than dog shit.
As a faithful adaptation, it wasn’t very… faithful.
But honestly I think it did a good job as a story.
The thing I keep hearing people complain about is simply because of the helmet. But in reality John obviously wasn’t born with the helmet on (even though it seems that way in the game).
And they setup the emotional precedent for why John works alone and never takes off his helmet. Season 3 was gearing up to be pretty awesome.
Seasons 1 and 2 were more like the prequels to the story (admittedly one’s no one asked for), and season 3 was going to be the actual Halo story.
I just think it should’ve been given the chance.

Warcraft 4 would be nice.
You mean World of Warcraft?
Don’t worry, Blizzard got plenty of use out of that.

don’t buy anything with a processor and wireless connectivity that doesn’t strictly need them to function
What do you mean I don’t need an LLM powered toaster?

The issue isn’t, and was never in these cases, that some private information is stored on said company’s servers. The issue is that they advertise and promise privacy but break that contract.
While I agree that people should generally be well informed about these topics at this point. The reality is that not everyone is. And even then, there are many people (probably most) that don’t know of viable alternatives. And even with self-hosting, even if the will is there not everyone has the skillset or the means (buying hardware, or a place to run it).
The bottom line is that for many people moving away from cloud hosted docs isn’t a straightforward prospect.

Probably from the previous economy

Can I ask what an aboveground cave looks like? Or what an underground cave looks like during the day?
Cool photo.

What does a free and open source game engine have to do with this?
Pretty much. It seems to be the way a lot of these grifters go.
Even Tucker Carlson. I’m Canadian, so I knew nothing about Carlson when I first saw some clips about him (like 8 years ago now). And in those clips he said some innocuous and fairly reasonable things. Then YouTube’s algorithm did what it does best (you watch one new type of video and then that’s all it shows you for recommendations) and then I started to see the “real” Tucker Carlson and was grossed out.
Seems to be a common formula.
I watched a video of his a few years ago, and thought “interesting take”. Then I saw another video of his recently and thought “this guy’s nuts. Prob a flat earther too”

Fibre deployment is getting cheaper and easier. Both in terms of cost of materials and in the equipment and labour skills.
It’s also much more secure from interference and disruption.
For populated areas, there’s zero justification to rollout wireless over fibre lines. And most major cities already have fibre in most, or many, areas. And the thing with fibre is that the physical lines can be used to deploy faster speeds with upgraded endpoints.
Tech bros would have you think physical connections aren’t a good choice anymore, because laying down fibre isn’t sexy enough for that VC money.

With cable here I’m “supposed” to get “up to” 1000mbs down but my upload speed is at best 40.
Man, you get 40 up? I’m stuck on 30 up. And the funny thing is that just on the other side of the creek on the other side of my street is where they stopped the fibre rollout.

somewhere, between you and the server you are connected to, the bandwidth is shared.
But the difference here is that on a fibre connection the shared portion goes over higher speed trunks which gives you most of that 1Gbps bandwidth. A wireless connection has a limited number of slices in the same band that it can share.
It’s the same issue with too many people on a single WiFi connection.

Musk wants control over the entire internet.
This is the number one reason my friend and I refused to even consider StarLink. We don’t live in the US and do not want all our traffic going through there.

Technically, S0aceX should be nationalized by the US based on the volume of money they’ve received in contacts.

it’s cell internet.
Physical lines first.

Those were tech nerds. “Tech bros” are jabronis who see the tech sector as a way to increase the value of the money their daddies gave them.
Well, the “pedophile ring” thing turned out to be mostly true with the Epstein stuff.
