Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Is Linux on a laptop with an Intel Processor + an NVidia GPU still the absolute fucking nightmare it was 10 years ago?
2·1 month agoBeen using for some 2~3 years now a Nitro 5 laptop almost always set to the Nvidia GPU. Issues are very rare, and some times compatibility is actually better than with the other GPU, the Intel one. Also worth noting I use Linux Mint though, and been some years since I last tested systems based Arch (btw).

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Sony Claims Digital Game Ownership Is Impossible
11·2 months agoLicenses are far older than digital contents, and the PS Vita, which I wonder which is the company behind it, gave a concrete example that consoles can make backups, and that’s halfway there.
Furthermore, another platform, GOG, explicitly states in its service contract that users are allowed to keep the contents they get. Similarly, when the service was active, Humble Bundle’s Humble Trove explained right at the beginning of its page that games included in the selection were free to be kept once downloaded. Two examples of decently-sized for-profit companies allowing for digital ownership.
Sony’s defence to me sounds a lot like gaslighting.

3·2 months agoDirectly, not familiar with any (unless you’re willing to mess with SBC Android), but I would try using AntimicroX, a program to remap controller keys as keyboard keys and mouse commands, and then set it to auto-start.

1·3 months agoWhen everything’s data that could be harvested for who knows what nefarious reasons, I’d rather not risk their “can’t read” to be actually “pretend not to be able to”, specially coming from Microsoft.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•ANY way to play just A version of fortnite?
1·3 months agoGood idea. And if @goofsqueak@lemdro.id goes for it and is concerned about the physical drive with Windows potentially tempering with the Linux install or reporting back to MS or whomever else whatever it finds, goofsqueak could unplug the Linux drive before plugging the Windows one, so no physical access to the main system is given to Windows.
And to goofsqueak, any problem with Fortnite on the Switch? I don’t play games as services so I wouldn’t know, and at least from my experience with offline games, if the problem are graphics, Fortnite from the little I know of, I don’t think would lose much in terms of quality.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Months of Reports Later, Tainted Grail Still Lacks Mandatory Steam Tag for Alleged AI Art
51·3 months agoIsn’t “alleged” used to refer to something thought to be, but yet to be proven? Attached image makes it seem pretty obvious, but in case it hasn’t yet been proven, wouldn’t it need to be before the tag is added?

Imo if the person moves the responsability to a third party, he should still be responsible for what happens. The wait sounds reasonable to me, as then people can see how responsible the dev or “dev” shows to be towards the project he is managing.
And by that, it allows separating those just using LLMs as additional tools, from “adventurers” (local expression for people that do things without a plan), scammers and asset flip users going for an even quicker buck.
