Exactly. No way I’m going to use this for something critical.

Yeah we have seen the same process many times now.

100% but move where? I’m not going to self host something this critical. KeypassX is so much worse. I can’t even use it on mobile probably.

There is no way I’m self hosting something this important… So now I’m not sure what to do actually.
I dont want future Ai overlords and believe it leads to dystopia for humanity.
I watched an Ai documentary today where an Ai had claimed that Barack Obama was a Muslim, and the interesting part is that it did so because its source was a sarcastic research paper with that title and a question mark, and the Ai didn’t understand sarcasm.
So you never know…

Ah I actually remember that fix!
I used the same one a couple of years ago when I was on Nvidia. Cool to see it still does it’s job, but sad that it’s still needed.

Yeah I understand. It really is Nvidia holding Linux back and still the usage is growing every year, so not bad. It would be nice if the most popular graphics card maker could make drivers that work well with Linux but even people who worked on the drivers are admitting they are hell to work with.

This feels like a 10 year old comment almost. Hardware issues with Linux must be super rare now except for Nvidia, which is because Nvidia has closed drivers and doesn’t care about Linux.
I dont actually but I can reinstall the system easily, and the user data is mapped to my nas drive.
Sure if I would delete all my files on the nas by mistake, I guess I lose them. But hasn’t happened.
Should actually back up my nas… Will get some external drive to do that I guess.

Classic Microsoft. They have been doing this for apps forever.

This is a classic Microsoft strategy, happened many many times.

People run Linux with full plasma desktop with like 8 gb ram. It’s the browser that eats up several gb from that, not the desktop. Desktop alone is probably 4 gb max.
But sure, depending on what else you run, you want more memory. But if windows recommends 32 gb just to run the system, that’s crazy.

It’s recommended to have 32gb of ram just for windows? Is that actually true?

I think its a good move. Memory will be required for virtually everything going forward. Robots, implants, gadgets, cars, you name it.

They didn’t drop on bubble fears I think. The memory and disk stocks dropped because a competitor showed up, I think it was Chinese but maybe Korean. And they have gotten back up again quite a lot.
Nvidia dropped because of circular financing worries. They agreed to back a massive open Ai datacenter in exchange for OpenAi putting Nvidia chips in there.
So there is a lot going on, but I dont think investors agree it’s a bubble. These datacenters are sold as being for chat gpt but I think investors know that it’s about watching every human being on the planet. And there will be a lot of revenue from providing the infrastructure and processing for that.
In a decade, I believe we have smart glasses and robots who are connecting to these datacenters, together with connected cars and all kinds of stuff. They will literally be the nerve system for connecting everything, including the monitoring in real time of everyone.
There will be Ai’s connected to eachother through these datacenters, communicating at super fast speeds, each one being trained for a specific purpose.

You can just type “shutdown now” and it does.
Arch. Would love to find something better but I can’t.
People get confused if their icons change color, man.
If the icon is not in the same place as before, god help them.
It’s not overreacting when you have seen the same development at least 10 times before. Its called experience.
