Have I just never realized that the sockets of video cards are “upside down” when inserted? 😅 Or is this an illusion created by how expansion card are displayed when advertised?

You could use a case that puts the motherboard in a horizontal orientation rather than a tower!
No doubt. This case was used for gaming just a few months ago. But maybe I’ll look at some used ones. Although the CPU cooling tower will be difficult, I think, to fit horizontally. 😅
