I just don’t understand how this could happen for a company as large and established as dbrand. If it was just a guy doing 3D prints on Etsy I could understand. But this is a 14 year old company that has sold millions of product and has already had cease and desist complaints levied against them (the Sony PS5 Darkplates). Makes 0 sense.

We don’t know what they tried even they tried to get the licence retroactively. Could even have just been too expensive
It’s also very possible that Valve already has given a different company the licence to produce a similar product
