No-one asked you to?
The reason is the feedback we got after 10.11.0, which we first raised in January and confirmed in May. A release like 10.11.0 was, by any reasonable measure, a major release - it rewrote the library database - but the version number presented it as a minor update, and people upgraded with expectations to match. The leading 10. never changed and never told anyone anything, so all it did was push the number that actually mattered into the middle position and make “major” releases look minor. Dropping it means the first number moves when the release is big.
lol. All the Jellykins in here lost their minds when this was pointed out.

How can responding honestly to an unprompted question be a threat?

No, they didn’t. Valve asked Nintendo of America if they wanted Dolphin listed on Steam, Nintendo responded no, Value shut it down. It’s one thing to turn a blind eye to Dolphin for so long, it’s another to be asked to go on record and writing as endorsing its distribution.

As below, Dolphin emulator is running for 20 years and they haven’t “gone after” it.
If you
That makes you a target.

Your understanding is correct and it’s literally why Dolphin emulator is still going strong 20 years later, it doesn’t do this.
“Developers” haven’t do this because this is people clicking the fork button or copy-paste-upload. The actual developers have long since moved on.

Microsoft CoPilot 365 is not GitHub Copilot. I’ll give you a pass on Microsoft’s incredibly bad naming policies.

Second upvoted person in this /c/technology thread who thinks Copilot is a model and not an interface to several other models and literally naming models you can use in Copilot.
I don’t know if ignorance of the technology you’re commenting on is considered a plus only if it’s AI.

Copilot isn’t an LLM. You can choose different LLMs per response, eg Chat GPT, Claude.
